Blaydes is pretty tough and has good instincts, the secret to beat Hunt has pretty much been exploited. One things I would like to see from Blaydes is to work on trapping and sweeping the legs when in top position to nullify someones base so they can't get up. I heard his corner yelling for him to control the legs but he never did. Of course he has pretty good take downs but that is a way to expend a ton of energy. I could see Blaydes making a title run not sure how he will do against the upper echelon but would be interested to watch. I will always be willing to watch Mark Hunt fight but I don't see many people trying to stand with him anymore. A note on the video the first 2 minutes or so of round three seem to be missing.
Blaydes hasn't gotten any new fans after this one. We all know, reach advantage or not, that standing and trading against Hunt will land you a nice comfy hospital bed, and Blaydes saw this outcome in the horizon after 2-3 exchanges, rightfully avoiding engaging Hunt on the feet all the way to the end. BUT, fighting like a bitch, talking like a bitch and winning a LnP decision against a 43y.o. striker is not what you want to move ahead in the HW division.
There are some new players coming into the UFC and the Game. This is good watching the sport change not just with new people, but new styles and fresh skills. What Hunt did wrong and what could he have done is not too much after taking those hits, but the ground game reminds me of when DC would try to fight off the ground with JBJ. Just a beat down was available with no options but survival mode.
