Pretty good fight for a prelim match. I have always liked Moraes but I think he is falling into the same trap as Mai where he is over focusing on striking instead of using it as a tool to close the distance to get the clinch so he can transition to his ground game. I think Means showed how to beat him, avoid the clinch/ground and use short straight striking to counter his looping combinations. Not to terribly upset with the decision as I saw a case for both guys to get the decision. It being Brazil not to surprised the Brazilian fighter got a close split decision.

Moraes looked good while he was fresh, as soon as fatigue started to set in, his lack of finesse and technique was the only thing left... The last round made me cringe, he was one single big opening down the middle throwing loopy weightless windmill punches through the sides, just ridiculous... For the first two, as he had a modicum of composure, I was sort of finding interesting that he had decided not to grapple, as soon as we got to the last round all I could think was "why is this dude throwing those horrible strikes instead of trying to grapple?"...
FOTY - let's get it going!
