Conor McGregor spends $300,000 on fight camp for rematch

Postby rique000 » Aug 13. 2016, 00:31

Following the loss to Diaz back in March, McGregor immediately shifted focus to fix the problems that cost him the fight and he became obsessed with the rematch.

Once the bout was booked, McGregor started putting together the pieces of the puzzle for his camp, which shifted from Ireland to Las Vegas while bringing in a slew of new training partners to mimic Diaz ahead of the rematch.

“With gyms, cars, transport, flights, accommodations — I’d estimate we’re talking a $300,000 camp here,” McGregor said when speaking to ESPN.

“There’s been some pretty major additions to his arsenal. There’s some techniques that will be thrown in this fight that people have not seen that are very specific for that opponent,” Kavanagh said.

“Like I said, I’m a bit of a scientist when it comes to this, I have a science/engineering background, so we’ve ran a lot of experiments in the lab, in the gym here against similar opponents so I’m excited to see if those hypothesis become fact.”

Nate Diaz, who upset the UFC featherweight champion with a rear-naked choke submission in the second round, took home a guaranteed $500,000 with no win bonus.

Why didn't Nate get a win bonus for fight of the night?

War Diaz!!!!

Defend his belt against Aldo and make another 10 million. Look how often Chael lost...did he change ways afterwards?
Conor is a top of the top level 145er and 1 or 2 losses against a 155er won't change that.

Nate will (sadly) go back to his old pay, win or lose, while Conor earns deserved cash. Let's not forget that even though Diaz talks about "Conor taking everything he worked for" Nate had plenty of chances to climb the ranks and he even fucked up his shot against Bendo so...if he would've been more consistent with his performances while keeping the 209 trash talk up he truly would've worked for and received all the things he wants now.

I read that to mean that Diaz signed his contract for a guaranteed $500,000, win or lose. He very well may have gotten a "Performance Bonus" for Fight of the Night, or Sub of the Night, or whatever. I'm sure that has been reported somewhere on here.

Minorities have always had to compete on an unequal playing field AND with less resources than their white peers Rique.
