Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor exchange shots over alleged ‘cartel’ issues

Maybe Floyd Mayweather is angling for a rematch with Conor McGregor. Or maybe it’s just Floyd being Floyd.

Either way, the undefeated boxing superstar came out swinging at the UFC lightweight champion over Twitter on Wednesday.

The allegation alluded to in Mayweather’s tweet was a rumor which popped up back in late November, one which was vigorously denied by the McGregor camp.

Mayweather defeated McGregor via 10th-round TKO in a boxing match in Las Vegas in August. The matchup drew a reported 4.3 million North American pay-per-view buys, which made it the second-biggest PPV event of all-time.

In recent weeks, UFC president Dana White claimedhis company was holding talks with Mayweather about getting involved with the UFC. But Mayweather shot those claims down.

More recently, White laid out a plan inwhich the UFC will attempt to proceed with the lightweight division in 2018: Either McGregor fighting interim champion Tony Ferguson in March, or Ferguson facing top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, with the winner meeting McGregor over the summer.

McGregor’s coach, John Kavanaugh, said his camp is advising McGregorto make his next fight a mixed martial arts bout, rather than a return to the ring.

McGregor, who is not one to let such comments as Mayweather’s slide, didn’t take long before replying to Mayweather’s tweet.

But that wasn’t the end of it. The back-and-forth continued later in the afternoon Wednesday on Instagram, with both fighters taking a follow-up shot.

I luv the 'violate these nuts' one = Mayweather bending + covering his head like a bitch!

Not fully buying that Floyd prolonged the 1st fight = I think that Conor had a good chance of winning if he didn't gas...

Keep dreaming man.

I'm a Rousey fan. You may like her or not, but she is an exciting fighter, making her opponents look amateur over and over.

Come on man you have to admit that Conor had a chance in the Mayweather fight. I'm not saying he had a chance of out BOXING Mayweather, but he damn sure had a chance of landing a good clean shot and winning via TKO/KO. Also there were a number of times the ref saved Mayweather in the first four rounds. Mayweather turtling up like he did, especially in those first four rounds, is actually a violation of the WBO rules. So if the ref would've chosen to enforce that rule, McGregor  could've won by DQ as well. Pointing out the truth should never be seen as "drinking the Kool Aid."

Out angled? Dude, Floyd kept walking straight the whole fight. Never a shoulder roll. McG had no chance AT ALL.

he side stepped and got directly on the side and behind right up there. lomanchenko just showed how to stick with your opponent in that position. not that hes that good or had a chance but if there was any chance tht was it he wouldnt catch him in a typical boxing fashion

Are you sure you watched the fight? Mayweather did indeed do his typical shoulder roll on quite a few occasions. He also didn't walk straight the entire fight either. He did his typical side step and counter quite a few times as well, not to mention how many times he retreated and turtled up in the first four rounds alone.
